AmeriCorps Pledge

I will get things done for America -
to make our people safer,
smarter, and healthier.

I will bring Americans together
to strengthen our communities.

Faced with apathy,
I will take action.

Faced with conflict,
I will seek common ground.

Faced with adversity,
I will persevere.

I will carry this commitment
with me this year and beyond.

I am an AmeriCorps member,
and I will get things done.

The AmeriCorps Youth Harvest Program, a member of the national service network of programs was funded through a grant from the OneStar Foundation, with matching funds from local school districts. The program was hosted by seven school districts and partners with over thirty community organizations including Boys and Girls Clubs, public libraries, and local Housing Authorities. From 1995 to 2009, members have contributed over 950,000 service hours to their local community.

Our Mission

AmeriCorps Youth Harvest engages high school seniors in tutoring and mentoring community members to increase academic achievement, promote effective problem solving skills, and to motivate others to excel. The program partners members with school sponsored programs and community organizations to provide them with a professional job experience, unique training, increased awareness of critical community issues, and the personal satisfaction of helping others succeed.

AmeriCorps Youth Harvest was honored with the Governor’s Volunteer Award in April 2000.
